Upper East Side: Calling on the Woman in Gold
The Woman in Gold movie inspired us to pay a call on a remarkable painting. The film tells the true story of Austrian refugee Maria Altmann. This extraordinary painting, covered in gold gilt, is of Adele Bloch-Bauer, Altmann’s aunt. It is now the centerpiece of the Austrian art collection at the Neue Galerie New York. We also enjoyed a posh breakfast at Sarabeths with pancakes and a house-made English muffin.

Visiting Ancient Egypt at the Met
Did you know New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art has one of the best ancient Egyptian collections in the world? There’s even an entire temple, the Temple of Dendur. From mummies to elaborate coffins, Egyptian art and sculpture, much of it massive, you can spend a full day this incredible collection. I’ll list the highlights, just in case you don’t have that long!
