The Woman in Gold movie inspired us to pay a call on a remarkable painting. The film tells the true story of Austrian refugee Maria Altmann. This extraordinary painting, covered in gold gilt, is of Adele Bloch-Bauer, Altmann’s aunt. It is now the centerpiece of the Austrian art collection at the Neue Galerie New York. We also enjoyed a posh breakfast at Sarabeths with pancakes and a house-made English muffin.
One of the best free atttractions in NYC is the stunning New York Public Library’s Stephen A. Schwarzman Building in Midtown Manhattan. It’s a masterpiece of Beaux-Arts architecture. Click through to see its majestic interiors. You’ll fall in love, too! Includes the Library Way.

Cascade River State Park is one of the best Minnesota parks and my personal camping favorite. It has lakeshore, waterfalls, proximity to Grand Marais and nice bathrooms!
